Project Manager (Nuclear)
Location: Haydock, St Helens (minimum of 2 days per week in the office)
Cockermouth, Cumbria (minimum of 2 days per week in the office)
Job type: Permanent / Temporary
Contracted hours: Full time – 36hrs per week (we offer an option to condense full time hours into 4 days Monday – Thursday) / Part time
About the role
Overview of the role
Delkia Nuclear is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex engineering and nuclear-sector projects. The successful candidate will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards, with strong commercial and planning control using NEC contracts and Primavera P6.
What you’ll be responsible for
Your main responsibilities will include:
Lead end-to-end project delivery within nuclear and highly regulated environments
Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations
Use Primavera P6 to create, maintain, and monitor project schedules and critical paths
Administer and manage projects under NEC contracts (e.g., NEC3/NEC4), including early warnings, compensation events, and programme submissions
Ensure compliance with nuclear safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company procedures
Proactively manage project risks, issues, and change control processes
Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, safety, quality, and commercial stakeholders
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships
Track and report project performance using KPIs and earned value techniques
Ensure all deliverables meet technical, safety, and quality expectations
Support bid and proposal development where required
About you
What you’ll bring
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
Proven experience as a Project Manager in the nuclear, defence, or other highly regulated sectors
Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC3/NEC4), including commercial administration
Hands-on experience with Primavera P6 for project planning and controls
Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, APM, PMI)
Experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering projects
Knowledge of nuclear safety culture and regulatory frameworks
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
Ability to manage competing priorities in a high-pressure environment
Qualifications
Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field
Project Management certification (e.g., PRINCE2 Practitioner, APM PMQ, PMP) preferred
Formal training or certification in NEC contract management (desirable)
Security clearance (or eligibility to obtain) may be required
