Overview of the role:
We are currently searching for a proficient Engineering Quality Inspector to join our manufacturing department. You will ensure that products and systems meet certain required quality standards, perform independent inspection of manufacturing stages and investigate compliance related issues in the supply and manufacturing process. This role will report directly into the Production Manager.
**Please only apply for this job if you have an engineering background (preferably Electrical, Control and Instrumentation) and a strong knowledge in engineering inspection and quality assurance. This role is crucial to our production operations and therefore, we need the right candidate**
What you’ll be responsible for:
- Performing independent inspection of manufacturing stages to ensure compliance against the bill of materials (BoM) and adherence to process.
- Investigating issues identified from warranty claims and/or customer in use quality issues.
- Taking ownership of any issues identified, providing a rapid response, determining root cause and then liaise with internal stakeholders, component and part suppliers to discuss engineering changes and improvements.
- Engaging suppliers and the on-site production teams, working closely to resolve quality concern issues, effectively communicating with the relevant teams at all levels.
- Following on from the supplier discussions, you will also be responsible for managing resolution of the quality issue, robust problem resolution actions and closure of the issue using problem-solving methodologies.
- The successful candidate must also be comfortable in customer facing situations and will be able to represent the team in all quality forums, from initial investigation to senior management and engineering follow up meetings and feeding back to the supplier network. Governance structures will ensure the Engineering Quality Inspector (EQI) has the delegated authority to successfully deliver project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities and Measures:
- Continual improvement of the Quality Management System in the context of ensuring key production processes, procedures and documentation are in place to comply with national, industry and customer specific standards.
- To fully support, both the customer and accreditation body audits as well as coordinating any resulting conformance observations
- Handling various enquiries in relation to production quality related matters from internal and external stakeholders and support customer and supplier visits as necessary.
- Maintain, improve and drive forward shop floor processes by promoting and enforcing compliance.
- Represent the production quality department at internal and off-site meetings as required, may include supplier audits.
- Liaise with other departments to ensure delivery of conforming products to our customers.
- Lead problem solving and continuous improvement activity within the production setting.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key customers, suppliers and approval authorities.
- To support in the introduction of any accreditations deemed necessary to reach Delkia’s strategic direction
- To identify and highlight opportunities for improvement in day-to-day activities
- To work closely with all other departments to ensure cohesion and synergy between teams to achieve quality product to the customer on time
What you’ll bring:
- Qualified to HNC/HND standard (or above) in an engineering discipline related to electrical engineering, control and instrumentation, industrial automation and mechatronics (non-negotiable requirement)
- A background in engineering inspection and quality assurance.
- Solid understanding of Quality Management Systems.
- Proficient in the use of quality core tools around APQP
- Knowledge of AS9100, ISO9001 and Lean Sigma tools would be an advantage.
- Experience in problem solving and investigation methods such as; 8D, CAPA, 5-Whys
